What is design installation?

Design installation is the on-site assembly, placement and finishing of furniture, fixtures, art and lighting for an interior fit-out. Ateam Logistics delivers to a designer's programme, protects the site, assembles and levels each piece to the floor plan, hangs art and positions styling, and removes all packaging, so the room is handed over photograph-ready rather than as a stack of deliveries.

Do you work to a designer's programme?

Yes. Ateam Logistics sequences installs around the other trades and around building access rather than around vehicle availability, holding project stock in its warehouse until the site is genuinely ready. Installs are the last trade on site, so the schedule is built backwards from the handover date.

Can you hang artwork and install lighting?

Ateam Logistics hangs framed artwork, mirrors and sculpture, and positions decorative lighting including chandeliers, as part of an install. Anything requiring hard-wiring or structural fixing is coordinated with your licensed trades rather than carried out by us.

Do you remove the packaging after an install?

Yes. Every carton, pallet, blanket and metre of wrapping leaves with the Ateam Logistics team as standard. A room is not finished until it could be photographed.

What it is

Design installation is everything after the piece is in the room. Delivery gets it to the address; installation assembles it, places it to the floor plan, levels it, positions the styling, and takes the rubbish away, on a schedule set by the designer rather than by the truck. In Sydney it runs from Botany, inside the city rather than out west, which matters to a designer dropping in to check a piece before it goes to site.

Installs are usually the last trade on site and the first one blamed. Trades run late, a lift booking moves, a floor gets sealed the day before and cannot be walked on. The work is therefore as much sequencing as handling: what comes off the truck first, what has to go in before a door is hung, what cannot be placed until the painters are finished. Getting that order wrong costs a day that the programme does not have.

Handlers protect floors and doorframes before a piece moves rather than after, and leave with every carton and every metre of wrapping. A room is finished when it could be photographed, not when the last box is through the door.

How a job runs

Site check before the date is locked
Access at both ends, lift bookings and building rules, floor protection required, and what other trades are still on site. An install date agreed without this is a guess.

Staged and sequenced off site
Stock consolidated in our warehouse and loaded in install order, so pieces come off the truck in the order the room needs them rather than the order they arrived from suppliers.

Protection first
Floors, doorframes, lift cars and stair returns protected before anything moves. Retro-fitting protection after the first scratch is not protection.

Assembled, placed and levelled
To the floor plan where there is one, to the designer's direction where there isn't. Legs levelled, doors and drawers aligned, cables dressed out of sight.

Styled and finished
Art hung, lighting positioned, rugs laid and set square, cushions and accessories placed. Finished to the standard the shoot will be held to.

Packaging out, site left clean
Every carton, pallet and metre of wrapping leaves with us. The handover is the client walking into a finished room, not into a delivery.
