Last Mile Delivery
Specialist final-leg delivery of fragile and high-value goods: careful handling, placement to plan, unpacking and packaging removal on site.

Resourced to the piece.
Nothing fragile is a one-person lift. A second pair of hands is the difference between a piece placed and a piece dropped.
What it is
Last mile delivery is the final leg, from a warehouse, port or showroom to the room the piece is going to live in. It is also the leg where damage happens, because it is the only one involving stairs, lifts, doorframes, corners and somebody else's floors. General freight treats the last mile as a drop at the door. Specialist treats it as an installation that happens to start with a truck.
Every job is resourced to what it actually needs rather than to what is cheapest, because nothing fragile is a one-person lift and the difference between a piece placed and a piece dropped is having enough hands on it. Anything carrying a finish is handled for it: upholstery, polished timber, glass, lacquer, metalwork. A fingerprint on a lacquered console is damage as far as a designer is concerned, and it is the kind that gets noticed at handover rather than at the door.
The people who collect a piece are the people who deliver it, and they answer to us. On a designer's programme that matters more than the rate: whoever cannot get into a building on the Tuesday does not care that the styling shoot is on the Wednesday. A logistics partner is only useful if the accountability runs all the way to the door.
How a job runs
- 01
Access is confirmed before the truck is loaded
Dock height and booking window, lift dimensions and whether it needs padding, stair count and the turn at the top, whether a certificate of currency has to be lodged with building management. Most failed deliveries fail here: days earlier, on a detail nobody checked, not on the day.
- 02
Blanket-wrapped and restrained, not stacked
Pieces travel wrapped and strapped to the vehicle rather than stacked on each other. Fragile items travel upright and separated. Nothing rides loose, because the damage that happens in transit happens at the first hard brake.
- 03
Handled by people, not moved by machine
The piece is stayed with from the tailgate to its position. Doorframes, lift cars and stair returns get protected before it moves, not after it has already touched them.
- 04
Placed to plan, not left in the entry
The piece goes where it is going, to the floor plan if there is one, to the client's direction if there isn't. Assembled and levelled where that applies.
- 05
Unpacked, and the packaging leaves with us
Wrapping, cartons, corner protection and pallets go back on the truck. The space is client-ready when we leave, which is the difference between a delivery and a handover.
- 06
Condition confirmed at handover
Condition is checked and signed off on site, and photographed if anything is queried. A mark found at handover is a conversation; the same mark found a week later is an argument.

Gloves on anything with a finish.
A fingerprint on a lacquered console is damage as far as a designer is concerned, and it gets noticed at handover, not at the door.
What we handle
- Upholstered sofas, lounges and armchairs
- Marble, stone and glass-topped tables
- Polished, veneered and lacquered case goods
- Chandeliers and decorative lighting
- Framed pieces, mirrors and sculpture
- Bedheads and oversized single pieces
- Rugs and floor coverings
- Antiques and collectables
What we don’t do
General pallet freight, parcel courier work and unaccompanied kerbside drops. If a piece can safely go by a parcel carrier, we will tell you. It is cheaper for you and it isn't the work this operation is set up for.
Common questions
- What is specialist last mile delivery?
- Specialist last mile delivery is the final leg of a delivery carried out by trained handlers rather than a general freight driver. Ateam Logistics delivers the piece into the room it is going to live in, with placement to plan, unpacking, and removal of all packaging, rather than leaving it boxed at the door.
- Do you take the packaging away?
- Yes. Wrapping, cartons, corner protection and pallets leave with us as standard. The room is client-ready when we go, which is the point of the service: a client should not be left with a pile of cardboard and a Stanley knife.
- Can you deliver to an upper floor with no lift?
- Yes, with the measurements first. Ateam Logistics runs stair carries routinely, but whether a specific piece makes a specific staircase is a measurement rather than an opinion. Send the width of the narrowest point, the turn at the top and the piece's dimensions, and we will tell you before the delivery is booked, and before the piece is bought, if it is not too late.
- Do you assemble what you deliver?
- Yes, where the piece requires it. Ateam Logistics assembles, positions and levels on site as part of a specialist delivery. Full room fit-outs coordinated to a designer's schedule are handled under Design Installation instead.
